Specimen:
10 ml EDTA blood (lavender top tube.) All Blood Bank samples must be labeled with the patient's full name, unit number, date, and identity of person who drew the sample. Improperly labeled samples will NOT be accepted for testing.
Result Time:
1.5 to 2 hours  
Reference Interval:
Results phoned to floor, written report to follow in CAS/Notes.  
Important Information:
Send the remaining untransfused blood with the attached I.V. tubing with a suspected Transfusion Reaction Report (#11603) to the Blood Bank. Send a urine specimen to Hematology for urine analysis. If the reaction is urticarial only, do not report the reaction if the symptoms are relieved by antihistamines.
