Description

Specimen Delivery

All specimens should be delivered to the Central Processing Department in the Core Laboratory (Gray 5) for initial processing.

Criteria for Refusal of Specimens

The laboratory reserves the right to refuse specimens under the following conditions:

1. Specimens collected in the wrong container.
2. Specimens improperly labeled OR unlabeled
3. Specimens not placed on ice, if required.
4. Specimens for cryoprotein determination MUST be received in warm water, at approximately 37° C. We recommend you use the warm packs available on in-patient floors to send the samples and minimize refusals.

Results

Results are available in Epic as soon as they are verified.
